Through Three Races, How Has Cadillac F1 Been Doing?

Through three races, F1's newest constructor has been steadily improving, and has started to look like a formidable mid-table team who can start to compete for points by the end of the year. Cadillac F1 led by drivers Valterri Bottas and Sergio Perez has not scored any points through three races, yet the subtle and small improvements made through Suzuka has shown that when F1 returns in Miami in May, they could be more of a threat than anyone has anticipated.

The season started out rough, with Valterri Bottas failing to finish the first race and first sprint of the season. But, since then, Cadillac has had back to back full finishes in the races in Shanghai and Suzuka. This may seem like a small achievement, but for a new F1 team with limited race experience, them being able to hit this stride early in the year will prove to be promising.

Another interesting part of their recent form is that in qualifying for the Japan GP, both Cadillac drivers finished above the Aston Martin duo of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, whose car overseen by legendary car designer Adrian Newey has been one of the worst all year.

Cadillac is planning to make and install upgrades to the cars during the new "spring break" forced by the cancellations of both the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain Grand Prix, before they race in their first ever home race at the Miami Grand Prix. This should prove to be beneficial to Cadillac, and maybe they'll start placing in the 10-15th placed range in the next couple months.

So far, Sergio Perez has been the more quality driver, but there doesn't seem to be a clear #1, and there probably won't be, as before Cadillac, both these drivers were #2s to some of the best drivers in the sport's history. I'm excited to see what Cadillac can do to the car, and hopefully, they'll start getting points any race now.
