In recent news, former New England Patriots head coach and current North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick was not voted into the Hall of Fame after not recieving at least an 80% vote rate from the 50-member selection committee. Many people, fans and celebrities alike, are shocked and outraged at his snubbing, and are calling for the commitee's heads. But today, I'm here to look at the arguments from both sides and see, who's right and who's wrong.

You've probably already heard the name Bill Belichick. Coached the Patriots for 23 years, and helped found one of the greatest dynasties in sports history, where, with the help of Tom Brady, the team won six Super Bowls and appeared in another three. This success is also revealed in his three NFL Coach of the Year awards, and his appearances on the NFL's All-2000s, All-2010s, and 100th anniversary teams. Twenty of his assistant coaches have gone on to be NFL or NCAA head coaches, and three of his former players have done the same, one of them being current Patriots coach Mike Vrabel, who is leading the Patriots to Super Bowl LX in his first season coaching them.

All of these accomplishments would lead for one to assume he got voted into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, but he didn't. Nobody knows why, but the two biggest and most obvious reasons would have to be Belichick's poor relashionship with sports media (a large part of the voting body), as well as his alleged roles in both the Spygate and Deflategate controversies that took place during the height of the Patriots dynasty.

This still doesn't add up to me. Even with these controversies and poor relashionships with the press, you can't deny Belichick's excellence in the pro football coaching field (maybe college), and he should've been voted in any day of the week. I can't change anything about the committee's ruling, but you all should tell me what you think about Belichick, and if he should've been a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
